Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Surgery Center and Imaging Suite Renovation
Boston, MA | 2010
This phased renovation plan for the main and connector buildings of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary enhances the quality of patient care and staff operations, reorganizing clinical spaces, consolidating surgical units, and relocating the Radiology Department. A variety of specialized clinics for audiology, voice, and speech, are clustered on two floors, allowing staff to share support areas and patients to move easily between treatment areas. Seventeen state-of-the-art operating rooms, together with private prep/PACU bays, occupy two adjacent floors. Together, these programs consolidate administrative and medical resources for Mass Eye and Ear staff and improve privacy by separating pediatric and adult functions. On the ground floor of the connector building, the Radiology Department has optimal spaces for imaging equipment, including MRI, and CT scan as well as an administrative core with a conference room and a viewing/reading room.
