Project Architect - Healthcare (Phoenix)
We are currently seeking a Project Architect with healthcare experience in our Phoenix office, to be responsible for the design and detailing of complex projects ranging in scope. Responsibilities include: definition of project vision and goals; coordination of design with site and building systems requirements; leadership of team in synthesis of technical solutions; creation and coordination of construction and bid document sets; cost-estimating coordination; consultant coordination; and maintenance of client relationship.
Qualifications:
- B.Arch. or M.Arch. or equivalent degree
- Must be a licensed architect
- Minimum of 7 years' experience working on all phases of healthcare projects
- Proficiency with MS Office, Revit, Creative Suite, Outlook and rendering programs
- Knowledge of BIM/Revit that allows for efficient and effective project management and staffing
- Experience guiding projects through the local regulatory/permitting process a must
- Familiarity with AIA HC Guidelines
Skills and Attributes:
- Work well independently and/or as part of a team, holding self and others accountable
- Ability to research new products and technologies, evaluate for appropriateness of use, and incorporate into reliable systems and details
- Possess well-informed awareness of impact of design decisions on environmental criteria
- Extensive knowledge of drawings, specs, and codes
- Thorough understanding of common construction materials properties relevant to their use in design
- Flexible, ability to lead and take direction well and adapt to change
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to manage priorities appropriately

BIM Operations Manager (Boston)
The BIM Operations manager is responsible for ensuring that Shepley Bulfinch uses information modeling technology to its greatest potential, advancing the firm's position as a leader in the use of BIM and its application in project design and delivery.
The manager is a self-managed, flexible individual who is fluent in the use of BIM as an evolving software tool and engaged with their peer networks. They actively seek opportunities on an ongoing basis to educate themselves on wider issues, including best practices and legal implications, and to in turn advise and educate users and project teams.
The manager will be a technology resource, offering visible and proactive education and support to users and project teams, and will serve as the firm's liaison with contacts in the industry, clients, consultants, and contractors, as required.
They will take a customer service approach to BIM management, with demonstrated initiative and a commitment to timely and positive resolution of support issues.
Qualifications:
- College degree in design or technical field plus 4-6 years of experience supporting staff in professional environment
- Eager to support staff with positive proactive attitude and patience
- Excellent organization, documentation, communication, and project management skills and experience required
- Excellent problem solving ability, general understanding of computer hardware and software required
- Ability to work independently and proactively, take on additional responsibilities, and manage multiple tasks and projects under constant deadlines with minimal guidance
- Must be flexible with work schedule; may be requested to travel and work evenings or weekends on occasion
- Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
- Experience with contract negotiations, AIA-E202, and specification requirements as related to BIM
- Working knowledge of design industry workflows, production cycle and priorities
- Experience with multiple BIM/CAD roles: training and support mentor, project team member, and strategic operations leader
- Must have desire and ability to train and manage Users, Clients, and IT team members
Skills Required:
- Experience supporting Revit over multiple office locations
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve problems in a timely and positive manner
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined
- Working knowledge of IT systems including hardware configurations, software connections, and network integration
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Navisworks: Manage and Review, Autodesk 3D StudioMax, Autodesk AutoCAD, Newforma Project Center and Windows 7
- Knowledge of Autodesk Revit MEP and Revit Structure, Autodesk Backburner, Google Sketch-Up, Rhinoceros 4.0, Adobe Creative Suite 4, Database software (Microsoft Access, Filemaker Pro, Deltek), Bentley MicroStation preferred

Shepley Bulfinch Summer Design Fellowship
Shepley Bulfinch is now accepting applications for its annual Summer Design Fellowship in the firm's Boston office. Fellows gain valuable, hands-on experience in our open studio environment working on a range of projects in the early conceptual phases. You may choose to take the Fellowship during any continuous ten-week period between June and August 2012.Are you eligible? The Fellowship is available to all students who are, at date of submission, enrolled in an NAAB-accredited B.Arch. or M.Arch. degree program. You must be a US citizen or have a valid work permit at the time of application. The Fellowship has a $7000 stipend, with a $3000 honorarium on its successful completion. The submission deadline for the 2012 Fellowship is 5:00 pm EST on Friday, February 24.
