Xavier University, Campus Master Plan
Cincinnati, OH | 2007
By identifying a vision for the campus and crafting a strategy to meet it, Xavier's Master Plan gives the University a powerful tool for meeting its long-term goals for academic enrichment and physical development. The Plan provides Xavier with the means to shape a dynamic learning environment while defining a civic and social crossroads. A vibrant academic quad is created through the revitalization of the University Library, which is integrated with a technology-rich Learning Commons and a new major academic building. By realigning dislocated programs, the Plan dramatically increases classroom utilization, reducing the need for additional academic facilities and opening up space for other programs. The Plan recommends alternative development strategies for vacant industrial land nearby, providing Xavier with a catalyst for partnership with the adjacent neighborhood by creating a multi-use retail destination for both students and local residents.
The 2010 completion of the Hoff Academic Quad, with the Williams College of Business and Conaton Learning Commons, represents the first major implementation of the strategies set forth in the Plan.
